A+U: GarageBand with Josef K.
Josef K., a rapper and the voice of the streets, the subway, and trains, will guide you through the basics of rhythm, working with samples, and groove. A funky workshop full of energy, a DIY approach, and instant musical joy.
And just as an aside: Apollo 11 had memory in the order of kilobytes (about 4 KB) on its first flight to the Moon, while today’s phones have RAM in the order of gigabytes. And we often use all that power mainly for selfies or videos of hamsters.
You don’t need any extra equipment to make music. When the devices we carry in our pockets outperform the computing systems of that era by several orders of magnitude, the real question is why not use them for something you truly enjoy? So bring your iPhone with GarageBand downloaded or a computer and wired headphones to the workshop.
Prague rapper Josef K. composes both music and lyrics exclusively outside the safety of a studio, right on the city streets he calls his own. His process-oriented approach to creating music outdoors (from the French en plein air—“in the open air”) directly reflects his surroundings and situations, so each song becomes an authentic record of a specific place, time, and momentary state of mind.
Josef K. made his debut in 2020 with the album Linka B, created entirely on his phone while commuting by subway. Together with Yenzee and LU2 VINYL FLEXER, he co-founded the group DRO, which successfully debuted in 2022 with the album Divadelní rapovej orchestr. In 2023, he released the album Bodegas with Sosr, whose collaborative productions subtly reference the iconic sound of Supercroo’s albums while updating them with elements of contemporary styles. Toward the end of 2025, he loosely followed up on his debut with his second solo album, S65, which was inspired by his regular commutes on the suburban train.
