Jordi Casanovas:
The Pack
In 2016, Spain was rocked by a case known as La Manada – The Wolf Pack. The trial that followed sparked a nationwide debate about consent, accountability, and how easily a victim’s experience can be called into question.
This docudrama by Spanish playwright Jordi Casanovas is based entirely on authentic court testimonies. No fiction. No rewriting of reality. Only the words that were actually spoken.
Directed by Adéla Stodolová, the production does not focus on reconstructing the crime, but on the mechanisms that lead to it. It explores group psychology, peer pressure, and the moment when an individual becomes part of the pack. At the same time, it gives space to the survivor’s perspective and questions regarding boundaries, the courage to say no, and the ability to listen to others.
The Pack does not rely on explicit depictions of violence. Instead of shock, it offers a focused look at what unfolds in words, in silence, in the power of the group, and in our own notions of guilt, consent, and responsibility.
The production *The Pack* deals with difficult and sensitive topics, including violence and rape. It depicts situations that may be evocative and emotionally taxing, particularly for those who have personal experience with these issues. If you feel that this content might be distressing to you or could trigger unwanted emotional reactions, we recommend that you reconsider attending or reach out in advance to someone who can provide you with support.
Nevertheless, we believe it is important to communicate this topic sensitively and to open a discussion about the impact of sexual violence on individuals and society. The performance offers a unique opportunity for deeper understanding and reflection on these issues. Its message is also one of hope, strength, courage, and the change we can create together.
