HaDivadlo: Joan of Arc

The collective dream of medieval people about a savior who can end the Hundred Years' War. However, the trust of the nobility and soldiers is not easily won by a young, inexperienced girl. Jana must undergo difficult trials to convince those around her of her abilities. Uncompromising clashes with authority and power struggles accompany her every step. Jana relies on faith, but who are the voices that speak to her? Her trances arouse distrust in some, while her ability to see beyond the horizon brings hope to others. But what does Jana believe in? God? And what if God is silent? Will the fortune teller help, or must she rely only on herself? The Inquisition, however, speaks clearly: This girl is on fire!

This collectively created ensemble production, inspired by the legend of Joan of Arc, deals with the question of what we believe in today. Can one woman change the world? And should she be alone in doing so? Activism, egoism, or both at once? Joan's story challenges gender norms and highlights radical beliefs about utopias and personal truth. Should we reject violence when we believe that through it we can save the world? Joan of Arc talks about how to face opposition that doesn't understand you, about female fame and mistrust in youth. Only God can cancel me.
