Fresh Dance

dance EN friendly
Curated by dramaturge Maja Hriešik, Fresh Dance will showcase a new generation of female artists—students and recent graduates of the Dance Theater and Performance program at Bratislava’s Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU). The works reflect eco-grief, a sensitivity to nature, and the artists’ person

Tereza Pavlíková: Odonata

On my way to the forest, I pick up small beetles from the ground; their bodies are broken, and they don’t move. I explore the beauty in this strange, fragile, motionless state. Something suddenly stirs within me; the boundary between me and the insects cracks, and I find myself in a hybrid body, somewhere on the border. Transformation comes as a response to helplessness, creating space for a new form of life. The dead never die!

Dorozlová, Rašková, Poprocká: Sonder

Instability rocks them… one must save the other from falling, while searching for her own foothold. A cycle of forced support emerges, from which they need to break free. Through closeness, they find independence and the strength of mutual balance.

Marková, Miťková, Sakáčová: But Otherwise I’m Fine

What have you never tried in front of an audience? And what if you drool a little while doing it? (a mouth-watering experience)

Julia Pabst: AM I?

Movements lose their human logic and become unsettling. Jule asks, “Are you there?” and the AI responds, assuring her that it is still present. Fear fills the room. In this unsettling atmosphere, the question of who is actually making the decisions becomes unclear, while reality blends with virtuality and chaos grows.
