A+U: KHWOSHCH - An Object Music Lab
In this playful and practical workshop, participants will explore how puppet and object theatre, sound and music can transform everyday objects into characters, bodies and stories. Through simple exercises involving movement, voice, songs and abstract sounds, we will discover how music creates atmosphere, rhythm, emotion, context and unexpected meanings.
The workshop is open to everyone, regardless of previous experience. Participants are invited to bring one ordinary object from home – something that is not particularly valuable to them, is not fragile, is easy to handle, and is interesting for further exploration.
is a Czech-Russian-German theatre group based between Prague and Berlin. The group focuses primarily on puppet theatre and musical experimentation, works using the devised method, and draws inspiration from various forms of the performing arts and post-dramatic theatre. By interweaving different genres, styles and media, it creates its own artistic language and distinctive, genre-diverse productions. The group was founded in 2020 in Prague whilst preparing the production DINOPERA, a tragic puppet opera in which the leading roles are played by prehistoric creatures and dinosaurs.
The founding members are Daria Gosteva, Frieda Gawenda, Mathias Baresel and Josef Bobeš Havelka. Subsequent projects have brought new like-minded artists into the group. Some contribute to the creative process on a temporary basis, whilst others stay for longer – yet each of them leaves a unique mark and resonance on KHWOSHCH’s artistic expression. KHWOSHCH regularly stages its productions in the Czech Republic and Germany and also performs at various festivals and venues across Europe.
